UIL Concert Contest Results
The CHS Band Program reached unprecedented heights this month with their performances at UIL Region 24 Concert & Sight Reading Contest. The contest, held at Centennial, featured 32 ensembles from 12 schools over two full days. The CHS Band was one of only two school to send 4 ensembles to the contest and was the ONLY school to have all 4 ensembles earn 1st division ‘Superior’ ratings from all 6 contest judges! This is the first time this has been accomplished in CHS or FISD history! This is an absolutely incredible accomplishment for our program and we are very proud of our outstanding students for their hard work and dedication in making this a reality!

This is one of the largest and most prestigious festivals in North Texas attracting top high school ensembles from across the metroplex. The CHS Jazz Ensembles had great performances and were thus recognized by the festival judges. Jazz Ensemble II received 2nd place in the 4A 2nd band division and Jazz Ensemble I was awarded 1st place in the 4A 1st band class. In addition, baritone saxophonist PJ Rahimi was recognized as the outstanding soloist of the entire festival which included 22 high school jazz bands! UIL Solo & Ensemble...
CHS Band students performed in over 170 events at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest on Feb. 2nd at Liberty HS. Students prepare solos and/or ensembles to be performed for an adjudicator and given a rating. On Saturday, the CHS Band earned 117 1st division ‘Superior’ medals from the contest judges! Congratulations once again to our outstanding student musicians for their hard work and dedication to musical excellence!
All-State Students!
Congratulations to the 17 CHS Band students who qualified for the AREA level auditions held at Abilene Christian University on Jan. 12th. Our students all did a great job and making it to the AREA level is an incredible accomplishment achieved by a very few students. In addition, CHS had 7 students selected to the All-State Band! Along with our 1 All-State Jazz student, this gives CHS 8 All-State students...an all-time record for CHS and the most of any school in FISD or 4A region! This places our students in the top 2% of all high school musicians in the state and nation! These students will travel to the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio Feb. 13 - 16 to perform with the Texas All-State Band! Congratulations to the following 2013 CHS All-State musicians:

All-State Jazz...
Congratulations to junior baritone saxophonist PJ Rahimi for being selected to the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble! PJ placed 1st in the All-Region Jazz auditions in September and qualified to record an audition for state. He was one of 22 baritone saxophonists to submit an audition recording and he placed 1st and secured the bari sax chair where he will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention this February in San Antonio. This is a HUGE honor for PJ and for the CHS Jazz Program as he is the first Centennial Band student to ever be selected for the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble!
