Director Information

The CHS Cluster Percussion Program consists of students from Clark Middle School, Wester Middle School, and Centennial High School. Membership into the CHS Cluster Percussion program begins with 6th grade beginner classes and culminates with the senior high school year. Studies in the percussion program include drumline/front ensemble, CPG (Centennial Perucssion Group) Classical, CPG Fusion, CPG Latin, in addition to other ensemble and solo performance opportunities. About the Director

Derrick Logozzo is an active performer, teacher, writer, contractor, and recording artist based in Dallas, TX. He performs regularly throughout the US on steel drums and percussion with his Caribbean Jazz Group, KALIMBE as well as with Venezuelan Latin jazz recording artist, Carlos Guedes.

Mr. Logozzo also manages and performs in his jazz group, New Vibe, and world percussion group, DrumArt. He is also a percussionist with the Irving Symphony Orchestra in Dallas, TX. As for teaching, Derrick is the Percussion Director at Centennial High School in Frisco, TX as well as an adjunct professor of percussion at Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth and at Eastfield Community College in east Dallas. He teaches world music and commercial and classical drumming and percussion. His students have given various solo recitals and musically diverse percussion ensemble concerts and earned scholarships to top music schools across the US. They have also consistently won national and state band competitions and earned positions in the Texas All-State Band and Orchestra percussion sections for the past 6 years. Derrick also manages and writes for his on-line music firm, derrickmusic.com, where his bands, publications and recordings are commercially available. Derrick is also a product endorser of Pro-Mark percussion products.

Mr. Logozzo has a Master's Degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas, where taught for 4 years, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio, where he won various research grants for international publication.
