Centennial Band Sweeps Washington DC!

The Centennial Band traveled to Washington from May 7-11 in order to compete in the 2008 Capitol Music Festival. The Band had a fantastic time experiencing the sights and history of Washington DC. The trip was a huge success with all three concert bands having outstanding performances. Centennial swept the contest, winning Festival Grand Champion with the Wind Ensemble and Best in Class with the Symphonic Band. The Concert Band also placed first amongst all the Sub Non Varsity groups. This marks the first time in the history of the program for the Centennial Band to compete on a national level. Congratulations to the Centennial Band members on their outstanding performances in Washington; thank you for representing Centennial High School on a national level with such pride and honor!

2008-2009 Band Calendar, Summer Schedule Released The 2008-2009 Centennial Band Calendar and Summer Schedule has been released for download. Hard copies will be handed out in all band classes on Friday of this week. Incoming freshmen should receive their calendars on Monday in their band classes. Tradition of Excellence Continues at UIL The Centennial Band Program hosted the Region 24 UIL Contest at CHS on April 9th and 10th. The Centennial Band represented the students and staff of Frisco ISD honorably by receiving UIL's highest honor - The Sweepstakes Award - with all three concert bands. Congratulations to the members of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. This marks the fifth consequtive year for the Centennial Band to be recongnized as a UIL Sweepstakes program. Thanks to all who volunteered to pull off this great event!	2008 Leadership Auditions The 2008 Leadership Auditions for Section Leader, Drum Major, and administrative staff will be held on Saturday, May 17th in the CHS Band Hall starting at 7:00am. Candidates may sign up for an interview time on the band hall door. Interviews will take place before lunch, marching auditions after lunch, and drum major auditions will take place last. Results will be posted following the auditions. All candidates must fill out an audition application which can be obtained from Ms. Hartenberger.
2008 Ensemble Auditions 2008 Ensemble Auditons will be taking place from May 12 through May 21st. Please check the Online Band Calendar above for your specific audition date. Ensemble audition music can be downloaded on the Music Page.	Spring Jazz Concert "Jazz Under the Stars" The Jazz Under the Stars Concert will take place this Saturday, May 17th starting at 7:00pm in the CHS Courtyard. This is a "Pot Luck" style dessert event - bring a dessert item to share with everyone! Grab a lawn chair, come out and hear the Wester and Centennial Jazz Bands perform some great Jazz music!
